Hello Gainesville Ocala Israeli and Folk Dancers,

 

Come out today, Sunday 9/02 for a Contra Dance at the Boltin Center or Sacred Groove at 308 West. Both start at 4 and are worth doing.

 

On Labor Day, Monday 9/03 there will be English Country, but not Israeli dancing. Israeli dancing will resume 9/10.

 

Senior Line Dancing with Andy starts this Thursday from 11 to noon at the Senior Center. All ages welcome. Sign up via Santa Fe College Community Education.

Four new classes start this week.

 

1. Thursday 9/06 starts Senior Line Dancing with Andy from 11 am to noon at the Senior Recreation Center. All ages welcome. Sign up via Santa Fe College Community Education.

2. Thursday 9/06 starts Hustle 101 four week series with Andy from 8:10 to 9:10 pm. Doors open at 8. At 308 West. Swing and Hustle practice follows until 10 pm. You can sign up at Santa Fe College or pay at the door. Hustle 101 is $10 per class, free for All U Can Dance members.

Tango Workshop this Weekend with Ivan and Sara, Salsa starts, West Coast Swing Dance Party, Hustle 101, Senior Line Dancing

Hello Gainesville Ocala Social Dancers,

 

Lots of changes, special and new programs, so pay attention.

 

Special Session

 

UF Tango holds a workshop with professional dancers Ivan and Sara from Argentina this Friday and Saturday August 31 and September 1.

 

I will be out of town through Wednesday September 5 and Nick will be out of town for 3 weeks, so some sessions will be canceled or there will be substitute sessions. We also have some new sessions starting in September.

 

Canceled Sessions

 

1. Thursday 8/30 - No Swing and Hustle. Swing and Hustle practice will resume on Thursday September 6.

 

2. Beginning Thursday 8/30 - No Argentine Tango practice. Argentine Tango practice will resume on Wednesday September 26 from 7:30 to 9.

 

3. Monday September 3 - No Israeli Dancing. Israeli Dancing will resume Monday September 10.

 

4. Tuesday September 4 - No Argentine Tango 101. Argentine Tango 101 will resume Tuesday September 11.

 

New and Substitute Sessions

 

1. Sunday September 2 - Salsa for Beginners with Theresa starting at 6 pm. This will be in place of Swing and Hustle. Swing and Hustle will return on Sunday September 9.

 

2. Starting Thursday September 6 - Senior Line Dancing with Andy from 11 to noon at the Senior Recreation Center. Anyone can attend. Sign up via Santa Fe College Community Education.

Israeli and English dancing meet tonight at 7 pm at 308 West.

 

There will not be Israeli dancing on September 3 because I will be out of town and no Israeli dancing September 17 because of Rosh Hashanah.

 

Sacred Groove continues for three Sundays on September 2, 9 and 16. Come out to connect to the universe through music and dance from 4 to 6 pm at 308 West.

Hello Gainesville Ocala Social Dancers,

 

Swing, Hustle and Tango practice tonight Thursday 8/22.

 

Friday, Kay teaches a Cha Cha class, UF Tango is back in session and International Folk Dancing meets.

 

Saturday night is a Ballroom Dance and Argentine Tango Milonga. Beginners come early to the milonga at 8 pm for informal instruction and practice.

 

Sunday Sacred Groove meets from 4 to 6 to start your week in a peaceful place.

 

Swing and Hustle meets Sunday from 6 to 9:30. Anyone that wants to practice Tango, can use the small room at the same time.

 

Next weekend UF Tango holds a workshop with Ivan and Sara on Friday August 31 and Saturday September 1.

Israeli, English, International, Labor Day Weekend, Senior Line Dancing

Gainesville Ocala Israeli and Folk Dance Newsletter

 

Hello Gainesville Ocala Israeli and Folk Dancers,

 

As usual, Israeli and English dancing meet tonight at 7 pm at 308 West.

 

There will be Israeli dancing next week August 27, but there will not be Israeli dancing on September 3 because I will be out of town.

 

International Folk Dancing meets this Friday. This is only twice a month, so enjoy while you can. They do a number of the easier Israeli dances that we do and a variety of mostly easy international dances from all over the world. Beginners is from 8 to 9:30.

 

Come out on Sundays from 4 to 6 pm for Sacred Groove Meditative at 308 West. Expressive and relaxing.

 

Senior Line Dancing with Andy runs for four weeks starting September 6 on Thursdays from 11 to noon at the Senior Recreation Center on NW 34 Street, north of the YMCA. Sign up via Santa Fe College Community Education under category Senior Classes, class number DAN0040.

Hello Gainesville Ocala Social Dancers,

 

Starting this Sunday, the small room at 308 West will be open for Argentine Tango practice from 6 to 9:30 while we have Swing and Hustle in the big room. Beginners encouraged. Music provided, if needed. This is an unguided session. The room is available for those that want to use it. Only $5, $3 students, free for All U Can Dance members.

 

Swing, Hustle and Tango practice tonight Thursday at 308 West. Only $5, $3 students, free for All U Can Dance members.

 

Tomorrow, Friday, Kay Picart holds a Cha Cha class at 7 pm at 308 West, for $15. If you pay for Kay's class, you can stay for Tango for free.

 

After Kay's class, Argentine Tango with Nick at 308 West from 8 to 11. Only $5, free for students and All U Can Dance members.

 

This Saturday night is a Contra Dance at the Boltin Center, followed by a Vintage Waltz Brunch on Sunday morning at 308 West.

 

Sacred Groove meets on Sunday at 308 West from 4 to 6 pm. Only $5, I think.

 

Sundays at 308 West, begining Swing at 6, Swing+ at 7 and Hustle at 8:15. The program is a mix of instruction, practice and dancing for all levels. Whatever your level, you will be able to keep up and be challenged to whatever degree you like. From 8:15 to 9:30 is Hustle! $10, $7 if you paid elsewhere during the prior 6 days, free for All U Can Dance members.

 

English Country and Israeli Dancing on Monday nights. Israeli Partner Dancing is from 8:30 to 9 pm. Israeli is $5 per family, students and All U Can Dance members free.

 

Argentine Tango basics with Nick on Tuesdays from 6 to 7:30 at 308 West. $5, $3 students, All U Can Dance members free.
