TANGO for the CURE fundraiser event (Oct 2) is approaching fast. We are working very hard so that we all can have a fun night and raise funds for Breast Cancer Awareness and Cure. We are looking forward to your support. In case you are wondering how you can help? Here are some ideas:
- Save the date, commit participating, put it on your calendar, RSVP on facebook. This not only is a good way to publicize the event, but also helps us with the planning.

- INVITE all your friends (on and off facebook, students and adults, dancers and others), help us publicize the event and distribute posters/flyers.
- Volunteer to HOST out of town guests on Saturday night. We already have commitments from a good number of dancers from all over Florida (as far as Miami) and hoping to attract more. We are also working on the idea of hosting a free After-Party Milonga so that we can continue dancing past mid-night. Good hospitality and long hours of dancing time should make the trip worth for out of town
dancers.
- Be a VOLUNTEER for this event. There is a lot of work to be done before and during the event such as (design/print/distribute flyers and t-shirts, contacting local news and media, contacting local business or organizations that could match the raised funds and sponsor the event, contact other dance groups to see if they would like to collaborate and/or perform at this event, contact other pink ribbon groups to seek collaboration, making catering arrangements, sound system arrangements, setting up the room, decorations, collecting donations, etc., etc., etc.) We have already had a good amount of experience at the Tango4Haiti fundraiser.
It is quite challenging (but of course rewarding) to accomplish all these with a task force of two-three people. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Eagles Club Swing: Labor Day WCS Dance Party

Well here we are again, getting ready for some SERIOUS PARTYING!!!!!
And how can you tell when someone is doing some serious partying?? Mostly their facial expression. They look serious.
All seriousness aside, it's time for our "First Wednesday of the Month" West Coast Swing Dance Party! This month, we are celebrating Labor Day, some come on down and celebrate by doing the opposite of labor: goofing off! We will be playing lots of great dance tunes to assist with said off-goofing! Expect our usual outstanding mix of WCS tunes, as well a little East Coast, Lindy, Two Step, ChaCha, Waltz, "Swango", Hustle, Salsa, and Night Club 2 Steps! Also, some icky romantic songs too for all the Grown Ups. (Thank goodness I'm not a grown up yet!)
Also, because I am a big fan of thankless tasks, I have spent a lot of time laboring over a hot Internet connection to net us a bunch of new WCS tunes! (New to me anyway) So come out and bask in the sonic goodness! The music starts at 7:00, and runs until 11:00-ish. Same entry: $3 members - $5 Non-members.
Please feel free to bring along some finger foods to wow people with your cooking prowess!

September 9 Gainesville Pepsi Refresh
Pepsi Refresh is coming to UF! Pepsi is sponsoring a custom Refresh project for student organizations that are registered with UF. Your organization is encouraged to fill out the online grant application to submit your great ideas for how to make a positive impact and refresh our campus and/or community!
The categories include Health, Arts and Culture, Food and Shelter, The Planet, Neighborhood, or Education. Pepsi will award two grant amounts – $5,000 and $15,000 – to the winning groups to be used to implement the Refresh project. Ideas that are submitted will be vetted by a university committee for feasibility and the top ideas coming out of that committee will be announced at Gator Growl 2010 and posted on-line for Gators to vote on. The ideas with the most votes win!
Gators Going Green, the SG agency for sustainability, will host a meeting for interested student organization executive board members to ask questions, get more information, and/or to discuss sustainability ideas and projects the evening of Thursday, September 9th.
