Dear Friends, Colleagues, Neighbors:
This is a first alert that I have started a ball rolling in Gainesville toward the goal of getting the city and GRU to stop adding
industrial waste to our water supply. Yes, the fluoride added to our water is hydrofluorosilicic acid, scrubbed from the stacks of
phosphate fertilizer plants. It's the only water additive in the world that is added not to improve the water quality but to
medicate the people. I'm tired of trying to expensively filter it out or buying bottled water, and I resent being medicated without
my informed consent. Fluoride can work topically but there is no need to swallow it in uncontrolled doses and risk bone cancer,
osteoporosis, arthritis, thyroid suppression, and other conditions linked to fluoride's toxicity -- did you know it's as poisonous
as lead and arsenic? Kids today get too much from many sources like food, drinks, toothpaste, air pollution, etc. (1/3 of US kids
show dental fluorosis =OD), and we should be looking for ways to lower the overall exposure. This would also save Gainesville
citizens money since we buy this industrial waste.
Fluoridation was started in the 1940s, way before there were any good scientific studies. Now that there is a large amount of
information on this, the time has come to re-examine the issue, not only in terms of efficacy and safety, but also as to medical
ethics and our right to drink undrugged water coming out of our taps. And if you're one of those people who drinks 10 glasses of
water/day, you're getting an awful lot of fluoride.
I talked with our mayor, Pegeen Hanrahan, two days ago about this issue. She seemed sympathetic and is scheduling an open meeting
with city commission members in a few weeks, which will be late on a Thursday afternoon. I would like as many people as possible who
are against fluoridation to show up. If you might be interested, let me know and I'll tell you the exact time as soon as I know it.
In addition, if you have a science or environmental background, or medical or dental training, or some other related "expert"
status, we need you. If you know someone local who might speak on this issue who has credibility as an "expert," please let me know
that too.

and will be happy to lend you one or sell you one for $1 to offset my costs.

The health department and dentists are in the middle of a giant fluoridation promotion and crushing those that wish to speak out against it. Government and dentists have deep pockets and commissions are very prone to see dentists as the real experts and everyone else as pretenders.Expect most of the lobby action to be behind the scenes and their personal dentists--they are trusted friends. Do not expect them to be grateful for you bringing up the issue. You really need at least one commissioner member on your side and willing to ask tough questions of the other side. Usually they are given a pass no matter how incorrect their information is on current science.
ReplyDeleteMost think it must be good as they put it in the water and toothpaste and dentists love it. The science is not believable to most as it conflicts with belief systems and they are too not interested to read any data. Jim
Karen, I have been speaking to city commissions with out much positive results so far. What has happened is my own city banned me from speaking and another city commissioner asked me not to speak. Now the health department and dentists after a secret meeting with no public records or minutes on March 10 in which they discussed how to rebut my comments. They would not tell who was at meeting or minutes, transcripts or recordings. Our tax dollars and out of the sunshine to fight citizens proactive responses. It is a shock and Awe promotion to city commissions with almost no current science but the people they trust saying the lies. I did not know about Deland reversing ending fluoridation until it wasw over. Port Orange would not allow myself or other to say anything at the health department Pro fluoridation promotion. The commission voted every one with deep devoting to dentists who out of the kindness of their hearts allowed fluoridation costing the dentists much income from cavities they would not get to fill. Yes the BS was deep and ignored everything I had handed out and stated in peer reviewed and government data. Dentists won the day avoiding current science.This is about talking points and concern for poor kids with cavities and beautiful young girl with ugly rotted teeth implying fluoridation reverses all this. Without shame they bit ,hook line and sinker.

Not having any luck calling you yet Karen. I am giving the Mayor some info. Lets make sure we are on the same page before I go too much further. I will take your lead if you give it. Some new facts- California now has fluoride salsts as one of the top ten chemicals needing investigation on potential of cancer causing. The list had 38 chemicals but fluoride is in the top risk group and H2SiF6 is raw smokestack scrubber from phosphate fertizlizer plants. This is the fluoridation chemical never FDA approved or ever even tested by any government agency for cumulative chronic use over time. ZERO studies for safety or benefit and none scheduled.
ReplyDeleteH2SiF6 or AWWA b703-06 has a full page of contaminates with arsenic and lead at the top but a wide range of radioactive decay products as the mines also produced yellow cake uranium from 7 Florida recovery plants. All are closed as of 1998 leaving all the radioactivty in the products or huge gypsum piles for a lifetime of lifetimes. Huge cooling ponds are on top the piles with the H2SiF6 in outside ponds with birds landing and disolving for your fluoridation product.
even at 1ppm it is eveil corrosive at destroying pipes and leaching lead from brass and old solder in homes. This leaching is the main cause of lead toxicity after unleaded gas took much of the lead from our everyday environment.
Washington DC had the worst Lead contamination in US from 2000-2004 from H2SiF6 mixed with the new chloramine disinfectant which makes supper leaching likely and corrosion of your pipes.Marc Edwards of Virginia Tech thought it might cause tens of BILLIONS of destruction to our pipes. 15ppb is max allowed lead but levels were hundreds and thousands of times that level. They deceided to hide that from the public for almost three years and then the 100 million in repairs made it even worse. In Washington anything is possible. This was front page Washington Post for 30 plus days in 2004. This is about fraud and deception and your government.
