A great time to start dancing is when a new beginner series starts, so
you can learn at a comfortable pace with other new dancers like yourself.
Two new beginner series are starting up. This is a great time to encourage
newcomers to start.
Starting November 1 for four weeks we will start a new beginners
series for West Coast Swing. This class will be suitable for new
dancers and those new to West Coast Swing. If you came to any
classes before and they were too fast, this is the class for you.
This class will be nice and slow, with no dancer left behind.
This class is on Sunday nights from 6:30 to 7:30. If you know
anyone that wants to get started dancing, send them to this class.
Next Thursday October 22 at 7 pm, starts a four-week Israeli Dancing
beginners series in B'nai Isreal community room. The class is free.

The library book sale is next weekend, held downtown on Main Street

Article: The End and the Beginning
Each week in synagogue we read a portion of the Torah (the five
books of Moses). The torah is a scroll of parchment on two handles.
At the beginning of the year, the torah scroll is all on the left
and at the end of the year it is all on the right.
After reading the torah a person is called up to lift the torah.
When the scroll is all on one side it is heavy and awkward to lift.
My Dad used to joke that we had the changeover of the year covered,
because he is left handed and I am right handed.
It is our tradition to go to synagogue on the anniversary of a
family members death, called a Yahrzeit, and say the Kaddish,
which is a blessing sanctifying the holy one. We go three times,
on the evening before, the following morning and late afternoon.
Last week I got up early to go to synagogue to say Kaddish for
my Dad on his Yahrzeit. At synagogue we read Beresheit, In The
Beginning, which is the start of the torah. It had not occurred
to me before that my father had passed away between our reading
the end of the Torah and the beginning of the Torah.
This was my Dad's sixth yahrzeit. Sometimes we only see things
when we are ready. Dancing is like that.
