Sustainable UF Events & Opportunities

Sustainability Hut Volunteer Trainings are this Friday, January 18 at 10:40AM, 11:45AM, 12:50PM, and 1:55PM

Interested in meeting new people and raising awareness about sustainability on campus?  The Sustainability Hut provides interactive activities for the campus community to learn more about sustainability topics and how to make a difference in their own lives and at UF.  Join the "Sustainability Hut" Wiggio or e-mail the Sustainability Hut Team for information about how to become a hut staffer today.  Each volunteer is required to attend a single training session held at the beginning of the semester.  These trainings last the duration of a single class period, and start and end according to the standard course period schedule. Trainings for Spring 2013 will be held Friday, January 18, at 10:40AM, 11:45AM, 12:50PM, and 1:55PM in Tigert Hall room 202. Volunteers are encouraged to volunteer with the hut as much as possible. After the third shift, volunteers receive a free Sustainability Hut staff t-shirt! After working six or more shifts, you may be eligible to become a Shift Leader. The Hut moves around campus on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings and also makes appearances at other Office of Sustainability events.

So you don't miss out on any events on campus and in the community, be sure to take a look at our sustainability calendar.

6. TEDxUF: Pursuing Passion, Saturday, February 23, 9:30AM – 3PM

The event is intended to be a conversation, not a one-way dialogue. Whether they are UF dropouts or gene therapy researchers, the thread that unites the speakers is tenacious passion. In addition to listening to the speakers on stage, audience members will be able to explore innovative businesses and research in the Lab, engage with an art exhibit, and collaborate over a working lunch. Check the Facebook page and the website for more information about this year's TEDxUF conference and to apply.
