There will be tutorials on a variety of summer garden solutions including cover crops, solarization, alternative summer edibles, and shade cloth. It is free and open to the public. Summer Plunge, Saturday, July 20, 8AM - 1PM UF's Center for Leadership and Service hosts "Summer Plunge," a single-day service project where hundreds of volunteers will branch out into various areas of Gainesville to participate in exciting service projects. Service projects will include working with animals, art and culture, youth development, elder care, environmental issues, homelessness and housing, and much more. Students will be able to learn about service opportunities in Gainesville, meet new people and network with campus leaders, and experience their community first-hand. The event will also include a light breakfast and lunch. The project will be held from 8 a.m. to noon at the Plaza of the Americas, with a group reflection and lunch after the project at the Alachua County Downtown Library.
