Beginning West Coast Swing, Super Simple Swing, Hustle, WCS Dance Party, Contra

Gainesville Ocala Swing and Social Dance Newsletter 2013-04-03

Hello Gainesville Ocala Social Dancers,

This newsletter is out a couple days early to be sure you know about all the great dancing opportunities for beginners you have starting tonight. For the month of April, you have two beginning West Coast Swing sessions and a beginning Hustle session you can attend, take advantage.

First my sessions and then the schedule according to what is coming up next.

Andy's Dance Sessions

Santa Fe College Community Education Spring Session is now open for registration and starts April 11.

1. Super Simple Swing 101 - ideal for new dancers, goes super slow, super easy, to mostly slower music, no experience needed whatsoever, no partner needed, we do rotate partners but rotating is not required. If this is too slow for you, you can switch to Beginning West Coast Swing. For 6 weeks on Thursdays from 6 to 7 pm at Gainesville High School.

2. Beginner and Experienced West Coast Swing - everyone of all levels is encouraged to take this class. While this is a beginner class, this is an hour and a half long and there will be a lot of practice time. More experienced dances will have plenty of time to dance, improve their fundamentals and learn new things. For 6 weeks on Thursdays from 7 to 8:30 pm at Gainesville High School.

3. Senior Line Dancing - beginners from 11:30 to 12:30, intermediate from 12:30 to 1:30. At the Senior Center on NW 34 Street. Have fun and improve your health doing dancing to a wide variety of music. This is listed under Senior Classes.

My Israeli Dancing starts back up this Monday night from 7 to 8:30 or so at B'nai Israel, 3830 NW 16 Blvd, $8 per session if you pay by the month, $10 for drop-ins, per family so bring your kids and spouse for free.

While you are taking these classes, newcomers are invited to join my Israeli sessions on Monday nights for free.

Other Santa Fe College Community Education Spring Dance Sessions

Ray and Eileen are teaching these classes via SFC
- Argentine Tango Basics (3 Wednesdays, 8:15 - 9:30 pm)
- Ballroom Basics for Couples (4 Sundays, 4:30 - 5:30 and 7:30 - 8:30)
- Latin Basics for Couples (4 Sundays, 6 - 7 pm)

There is also a Belly Dancing class and a Hula class.

Upcoming Dancing

Tonight, Wednesday and for the month of April, Judi is teaching Beginner West Coast Swing starting at 7 pm at Studio Z. Take this session and come out again on Thursdays to my Beginner West Coast Swing, starting April 11 for 6 weeks. Going twice a week, you reinforce what you learn and progress much faster.

Thursday night and for the month of April, Bob Rogers is teaching Hustle at the Boltin Center from 7 to 9 pm. Hustle is the most exhilarating of dances. Get out there and have a great time.

Saturday night is Josh's West Coast Swing Dance at Studio Z. Put all your practice to good use and come out for a fun evening.

This Sunday afternoon is the monthly Contra Dance at the Boltin Center from 4 to 7.

On Tuesdays join Richard for East Coast Swing and Bob Rogers for Ballroom Dancing at the Boltin Center, or Ray and Eileen for Ballroom Dancing at By Ear Musician.

Ray and Eileen continue their Bolero specialty class on Thursday nights at By Ear Musician.

Salsa Caliente has ongoing Salsa and Latin dance classes on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays at the Unified Training Center.

See below for the schedule and visit the dance calendar for details.

Encourage newcomers to sign up for Super Simple Swing 101 via Santa Fe College Community Education. This class is designed for those that have never danced before and is a great introduction for novice dancers into our dance community. Here are flyers you can print and hand out if you like.

Happy Dancing,
