Hello Gainesville Ocala Social Dancers,
My Lindy, Hustle and Israeli Dance sessions are canceled this weekend since I am going to be out of town. Go to Christian's Balboa class to get in your swing type dance this weekend.
Tonight, Thursday May 27, is Christian's Balboa class. This class is only once a month. Balboa is a swing related dance. If you have not tried Balboa yet, now is a good time. Christian runs a fun class and this is an interesting dance.
Lots of other good dancing this weekend and coming up next week.
Friday night UF Swing Club will be at 308 West while UF Tango is on break. There is a class at 8 and dancing until midnight. Free and open to the public. Thanks to Bert Nelin for sponsoring this event.
Saturday night is Tango Pavadita. If you are from out of town, this is a great night to come to Gainesville and meet people from other cities in North Florida. Stay the night and come back for Sunday morning Tango brunch. After brunch is a practica, excellent for newbies and experienced dancers to practice.
If you do not Tango, go to the Eagles Club Saturday night to help Claudia celebrate her birthday, with a live band at 8 pm, preceded by a fish fry.
If you know anyone that wants to start dancing, we have two classes designed specifically for new dancers starting in June. (a) Social Dancing for People with Two Left Feet and (b) Beginner Israeli Folk Dancing. Register via Santa Fe College Community Education.

Put your dance classes to good use next week. On Wednesday, June 1, is Josh's West Coast Swing Dance at the Eagles Club, which should serve to get you pumped up for our June 4 Saturday Night Swinging Soul Dance Party at 308 West. Come out to these two swinging events.
Next Friday, June 3 is Kay Picart's first Cha Cha skills class. Another Cha Cha class is scheduled for June 10, and two Waltz classes for June 17 and 24. Let her know by June 1 that you are coming to her classes.

Article: The Man Is Always Right and the Woman's Job Is to Follow
Was dancing the woman's part at Richard's West Coast Swing class tonight.
The guy I was dancing with told me I did not have enough frame and to push harder.
I do not like to dance that way, so I started to argue with him.
One of the things I regularly tell women is, "to act as if the man is always right, as long as he is not hurting you. The woman's job is to follow and make whatever the man does work."
The man can tell the woman what he needs her to do to make the dance work, but the woman should not tell the man what to do.
Think this creates the best dynamic.
So I caught myself and told him I would try to push more, but it did not go well, because my initial reaction created a little emotional tension.
After the break, when I rotated to him again, I told him, "Let's see if I can do better this time."
The second time did go better, and he complimented me on my following, no doubt because of my seductive brown eyes.
