Article: Technique and Touch

Making a shot in basketball requires two things: (1) technique to
shoot the ball straight at the basket, and (2) touch to shoot the
correct distance.

Technique mainly is lining up the three joints of your shoulder, elbow
and wrist directly with the basket. You hold the ball in your hand.
When you extend your arm to shoot, if your joints are aligned,
the ball goes directly towards the basket.

There are a lot of drills you can practice to perfect this technique.

Once you have mastered the technique for shooting straight,
then you can work on your touch to get the right distance.

The way to train your body to get the right distance
is to shoot a lot of shots.

You have to master technique, before practicing touch
otherwise you will do more harm than good.
