Line Dancing at 308 West at 11:30 Today, 308 West Parking, Reform at a Higher Level

Gainesville Ocala Israeli and Folk Dance Newsletter 2012-11-01

Hello Gainesville Ocala Israeli and Folk Dancers,

For the month of November, park at the Seagle Building. I have paid for us to be able to park there. The new tenants put a chain across the parking area at 308 West. Go to www.Grinch.biz to voice your opinion about their horrible behavior.

There will not be Line Dancing at the Senior Center.

There will be Line Dancing at 308 West today, Thursday from 11:30 to 12:30. Note the new time, a half hour later. Cost just $5.

English and Israeli Dancing is this Monday night starting at 7 pm at 308 West.

Line Dancers and Israeli Dancers, we are looking for space for December and beyond. Please write to me if you are interested in Line or Israeli Dancing. I am going to need to know how many people are going to come before I rent space. We no longer have our own studio to dance in, so we are going to commitments from people justify it.

The monthly Sunday Contra Dance is this weekend at the Boltin Center.

Sacred Groove also meets on Sunday at 308 West from 4 to 6 pm.

Swing 101 meets from 6 to 7 pm at 308 West. You can still join this beginning class.

This is the last month for All U Can Dance as it now stands. To justify renting space for December and beyond, we will need commitments from people as to what they want to do. This will be better for everyone, because people will know there will be other people for them to dance with. Sometimes we have a lot of people, sometimes only a few, sometimes a gender balance, sometimes all men and sometimes all women. With commitments, people will know what to expect and can better plan their schedules.

See the calendar for all programs.

Happy Dancing,
Andy

Article: Reform at a Higher Level

My sister worked at a place called Camelot.

This was a last chance home for juveniles before they went to prison.

Of course, all of them had been abused and their behavior was bad, but Camelot gave them a chance to improve.

The logo for Camelot was a round circular shape made out of dots, with a solid line at the bottom left and another solid line at the top right.

Fairly commonly, a kid would freak out and go bezerk. The big guys that worked there, would have to tackle the kid and hold him or her down.

The line at the lower left of the logo symbolized the lower level. To grow, a person had to in a sense, destroy who they were and reform at a higher level.

This is what happened with the kids, when they improved. It was not a gentle, peaceful grade uphill to enlightment, but an explosive destruction of the old self and a regrouping at a higher level.

So it is with us, after two comfy years at 308 West, we now find ourselves breaking apart, wondering if we will reform at any level. I cannot see the future any better than anyone else. All I can say is, we have to go through the process.

You can improve gradually within a level until you reach the limits of that level.

To reach a new level, you have to destroy who you are and reform at the higher level.
