091001 Israeli Dancing, Greek Dance, Moon, Mercury, Chutzpah

Hello Gainesville Area Israeli Dancers and Friends,

Greek dance celebration on Friday October 9.

Chagigah is October 16 to 19 in Wisconsin. Still time to go.
http://osrui.urjcamps.org/yearround/programs/chagigah/

I have discovered the secret to an easy fast. After going to
someone's house for the pre-Yom Kippur, go home and eat two
hard boiled eggs. Two days later and I am still full.

Howard Cohen, former UF professor of Astronomy explained why
the half-moon was in such an unusually deep blue sky last week.
On the Autumnal equinox the half-moon is at its lowest position
in the sky at sunset. This time of the year is also the best
time to view Mercury in the morning. A half hour before sunset
on October 6, Mercury is at its maximum elongation from the sun
and near to its highest point above the horizon. Try the Paynes
Prairie overlook off 441 for a clear view of the eastern horizon
and look for the brightest object before the sun rises.

Happy Dancing,
Andy

Article: Chutzpah

This was sent to me. I do not know the author.

Chutzpah is a Yiddish word meaning gall, brazen nerve, effrontery, sheer
guts plus arrogance; it's Yiddish and, as Leo Rosten writes, "no other word,
and no other language," can do it justice. This example is better than 1,000
words . .

THE ESSENCE OF CHUTZPAH

A little old lady sold pretzels on a street corner for 25 cents each. Every
day a young man would leave his office building at lunch time, and as he
passed the pretzel stand, he would leave her a quarter, but never take a
pretzel.

And this went on for more then 3 years. The two of them never spoke. One
day, as the young man passed the old lady's stand and left his quarter as
usual, the pretzel lady spoke to him.

"Sir, thank you for your business. You are a good customer, but I have to
tell you that the pretzel price has gone up to 35 cents."
