Webhosting for your business

A friend of mine asked me about handling her website for her business. She had gotten a few estimates by web designers that started
at $1,600 and went to $5,000 for creating her website. The ongoing charge is $15 per month.

To me that is a waste. All you need is a pretty picture at the top of the page. Why spend thousands of dollars for that. You are
writing your own copy anyway.

The charges are exactly the opposite of what they should be. Your website is part of your business and grows with you. The charges
should reflect that. The up front charge should be small and you should have steady support as you go along.

We use a phenomenal program DotNetNuke for content management. This lets you update your website yourself and is loaded with
features letting you make changes, post articles and do lots of other stuff on your website.

After we discussed her website, I sent her the following summary.

-----------------------------------

Here is the info about your website.

1. $300 - Installation and training.
This includes creating your website and
training you on how to update your website yourself.
You provide the graphics and text.

2. $55/month - business website support.
This includes DotNetNuke for content management,
web hosting and taking care of all the techincal stuff
for your website. You can find more details here.

3. $75/hour - hourly rate for any work
that you have us do.

4. Negotiable for Internet Marketing - data entry
emailing, posting articles, exchanging links.
If you want us to help market your website by
posting your information in different places,
we can discuss this. You can do this type of
thing yourself and I can tell you how. Or, I
can have one of my staff do this.

5. Email List Management
I recommend Constant Contact for email list
management. My company is a business partner
with them. The entry level is $15/month for 500 people.
You can send as many emails as you like and have
as many lists as you like. B'nai Israel uses them.
See http://www.constantcontact.com/index.jsp?pn=bronzebp
You can use free free services from Google, Yahoo
or Live.com, but they have ads. You can do it yourself
on your own PC. We have not yet explored using DotNetNuke
for this. It has some capabilities, but I do not yet
know to what extent.

You can go to www.verajoffe.com to see an installation
of DotNetNuke that one of my customers is using. She loves
being able to change the information and post articles
whenever she likes.

As far as SEO, you can go to google and try these searches:

A. Search for: Jewish Events
My website www.JewishNetwork.com comes up #1 out of 26 million hits.

B. Search for: Tree Service Palm Beach County
My customer www.ZimmermanTreeService.com comes up #3

C. Search for: Partner Dancing
My website www.IsraeliPartnerDancing.com comes up #6 out of 15 million.

D. Search for: Gastroenterology Board Review
My customer www.giboardreview.com comes up #1

Thank you,
Andy
