English Country Dancing Get out of the heat and dance

Dear Dancers,

We had a great large group last week!! 5 new contra dancers--so Randy kept it lively.
We did a wonderful circle dance, and a sicillian circle, and the bicycle chain dance! And a Jim Kitch dance--he's a contra choreographer!  And the Tango dance just keeps getting starred each week--it always seems to delight--dancers love the drama and playfulness!   Some of us went down to the St. Cloud dance and had a nice time.

Dances done last week were:  (those starred were requested by dancers to do again this week)

The Ragg (skipping stars)

* Row Well, Ye Mariners (LW; long lines slip left 4 steps; slip R 4; clapping)

Lover's Knot (Lw, double mad robbin shuttle; very contraish)

My Lady of the Lake (LW, corners balance & box the gnat; right hand star)

Sun Assembly (LW, 1's right star down; left star up)

Faithless Nancy Dawson (LW; fall back w/nbr setting; come fwd turning sgl)

The Florida English Dance weekend is coming soon, in October.  Please sign up for an enjoyable weekend.  Since this is the only one in Florida it is important that the dance community support those who put so much work into creating such an event in our backyard.  It's also a bargain.  The price of $140 (if double room) includes 2 nights lodging in a beautiful historic inn, dancing Friday evening, Saturday morning, afternoon, and evening, and Sunday morning, 2 wonderful continental breakfasts (fresh Belgian waffles), and Saturday lunch.  You will dance to the beautiful music of Full Circle and be led by David Millstone, an experienced caller who will call traditional English dances, both old and new.  You get to dance in the beautiful ballroom!!
